Gallow's joking.

I interviewed an Iraqi army battalion commander. He's one of the few who made it out of the old army and in to the new one here.

Lt. Col. Sabah is nice guy, very affable and more honest about the challenges his men face. But toward just after the interview he told us a joke.

It wasn't particulary funny in a normal sense. But this is Baggers after all so humor like this is not only appreciated but probably appropriate.

"A male terrorist and a female terrorist fall in love. They decide to get married. Do you know what their wedding car was?"

We all shook our heads no. This had to be good, in a Baggers sense of the world, and could be funny.

"A VBIED!" he concluded.

I've heard jokes like that before here and in Kosovo. For some reason they make sense here. Once you tell them at home, though, the punchline falls flat. You're left standing there in a group of people at a cocktail party wondering if you're insane or they just don't get it.
